We believe that this religion cannot be spread except by men and women who are endowed with knowledge and insight. We also believe that Daʿwah is one of the most honourable endeavors and noble missions that one can assume. How could it not be so, given the Prophets and Messengers before had taken up this task, and all those blessed with good and happiness in both worldly life and the Hereafter.
Allah describes the task of Daʿwah eloquently saying: “And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, “Indeed, I am of the Muslims.”” [Fuṣṣilat 41:33] This task can only be carried out with insight (knowledge). Allah says: “Say, “This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah; and I am not of those who associate others with Him.”” [Yoosuf 12:108]. He also says: “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction” [an-Naḥl 16:125]. Insight means both intellectual and spiritual knowledge.
The more knowledgeable the person involved in Daʿwah is, the more effective his or her preaching is. The person involved in Daʿwah must follow the method of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by using wisdom. In terms of speaking, that means using the correct words in the correct manner at the correct time. All of this must be in harmony with the Quran and Sunnah.
