Taqdir

Allah Almighty has known since eternity those who will enter Paradise and those who will go to the Hell-Fire. No increase or decrease in this divine knowledge will occur at all. Allah Almighty knows all the actions that the people will undertake. The actions that are destined for each individual will be made easier to him. Actions are valued according to their ends. Fortunate is the one, whose Taqdir is in his favour and wretched is the one whose Taqdir falls against him. Taqdir is a secret placed by Allah Almighty among His creatures which is not known even by any close angel or by [...]

Concerning Gossiping

We have already mentioned its prohibition as well as the evidences for that and what has been reported concerning the punishment for it.  We also mentioned its definition, however all of this was brief.  We will now add more to its explanation. Imaam Abu Haamid Al-Ghazali (rahimahullaah) said: "For the most part, gossip (nameemah) is attributed to the one who takes the statement of a person (concerning another individual), and relates it back to that individual that is being spoken about.  An example of this is when someone says: ‘That person said such and such about you.’ However, gossiping is not limited [...]

Hasten To Break The Fast

Sahl ibn Sa‘d reported that Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “The people will continue to prosper as long as they hasten to break the fast.” [Collected by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim.][1] Sahl ibn Sa‘d ibn Maalik was from the Khazraj tribe of Madeenah. It is said that his name was originally “Huzn (sadness)” and the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) renamed him “Sahl (easy)”. When the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) died he was only fifteen years old. He was the last of the companions to die in Madeenah in the year 91AH (some said it was 88AH). Ahmad’s collection had the addition: “…and they delay the suhoor.” [2] Aboo Daawood’s narration had the addition: “Because [...]

Dislike of Unnecessary Goods

The Prophet did not like, even for a short time, to keep money or provisions in his house in excess of his needs. In the same way, he did not allow the goods of charity which were the property of common people to remain with him for a moment. He would have no peace of mind till they had been given away. It is related by Ayesha that, "I had six or seven dinars during the last illness of Holy Prophet. The Prophet commanded me to distribute them but due to his illness I could not find the time for it. [...]

During which a caller is saying: O you who intend good, approach and O seekers of evil, desist. And freedom from fire is (allowed) by Allah and that is every night. However these blessings, a Muslim is afflicted by things which corrupt the days and nights of Ramadan. [...]

The Goal in Life

Success and happiness in this world and the Hereafter depend on tazkiya, the purification and nurturing of our personality. The Quran states that true success is only reserved for those who seek to purify themselves: “Successful indeed is the one who purifies his whole self. Our personality comprises not only the physical body but also the mind and the heart, feelings and attitudes, character and behaviour. Proper nurturing and development of these elements of the personality will achieve desirable goals. When goals are desirable, the process of aspiring to, working towards and achieving them also become desirable. This is part of [...]

Beauty is part of the retribution of righteous deeds

The one who laid down the divine doctrine is the creator of man, therefore there was a full consistence between the doctrine and the natural disposition which was created in man. As long as beauty has a great impact on one's soul, Allah made it part of the reward of righteous deeds and a result for straightness in this life. Thereby beauty is the prominent element in the retribution which Allah prepared for His Righteous Servants. The Glorious Qur'an drew attentions in many Ayahs to this meaning where the focus came intensive on sight more than others where it is the [...]

Medical Aspects of Islamic Fasting

Muslims worldwide observe total fasting (no food or water) between dawn to sunset in the month of Ramadan. They do so not for losing weight or any medical benefit, but as it is ordained in Qur’an which says. "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you, as it was prescribed for those before you (i.e. Jews, & Christians) so that you may (learn) self-restraint."(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:183) According to Islamic Laws, children below the age of 12, sick patients, travelers, and women who are menstruating or nursing a baby are exempt from fasting. In addition to staying away from food or [...]
