Children and charity

Mr. Muhammad Ghannam tries in the following story to explain a high value for children and a good manner that the righteous always do, which is (Giving charity in secret). It is a a proof on the truthfulness of the one who tries to draw nearer to Allah and drives its doer away from hypocrisy; following the example of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) in the Hadith of the seven types of people whom Allah shall cover with His Shade on a day where there will be not shade but His: "A person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know [...]

Rights of Parents are Duties of Children

Parents give us innumerable (countless) favors. They provide protection, food and clothing to the newly born. The mother sacrifices her comforts and sleep to provide comfort to her children. The father works hard to provide for their physical, educational and psychological (and spiritual) needs. It is a matter of common courtesy that if a person does you some favor you feel obliged to him.  Verbally you say 'thank you' to him.  You try to repay and compensate him for his gifts and favors.  You feel a sense of gratitude towards him. Right to be respected and be kind to them:  Gratitude [...]

Manners with children

Fruits are given to the youngest of children Abu Hurayra said, "When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was brought new dates, he said, 'O Allah! Bless us in our city and in our mudd and sa', blessing upon blessing.' Then he would give one to the youngest of the children with him." Mercy towards children 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb reported from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Anyone who does not show mercy to our children nor acknowledge the right of our old people is not one of us." Embracing [...]

Continuously benefiting a loved one

A- The Righteous Son: One of the great bounties from Allah, the Almighty, upon His servants is providing the righteous offspring to help them obey Allah; those who will follow them in doing good deeds and be the reason of raising their grade in Paradise. The Prophet of Allah said: “Allah raises the level of His righteous servant in Paradise so that he (the servant)says: ‘O Allah from where have I deserved this?’ Allah says: “Because your children asked forgiveness for you.” (Narrated by Ahmed). Allah, the Almighty describes His servants as Allah says: “'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), which they shall enter [...]

Getting to Know Someone for Marriage

Marriage in Islam is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their life, after all the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) reminded us that marriage is "half of your faith." Marriage is the process of two people coming together onto one life path for the ultimate goal of pleasing Allah and it is one of the most intimate relationships we can have with another person. In the Qur’an we are also reminded that, “your spouses are like clothing for you,” signifying that our spouse is the closest person to us in life, physically and emotionally, like clothing is to [...]

Wife’s Property

The three religions share an unshakable belief in the importance of marriage and family life. They also agree on the leadership of the husband over the family. Nevertheless, blatant differences do exist among the three religions with respect to the limits of this leadership. The Judaeo-Christian tradition, unlike Islam, virtually extends the leadership of the husband into ownership of his wife. The Jewish tradition regarding the husband's role towards his wife stems from the conception that he owns her as he owns his slave. This conception has been the reason behind the double standard in the laws of adultery and behind the [...]

Fasting For Medical Patients

Patients are exempt from fasting. But some do decide to fast. For physicians treating Muslim patients, the following guidelines are suggested. Diabetic Patients: Diabetics who are controlled by diet alone can fast and hopefully with weight reduction, their diabetes may even be cured or at least improved. Diabetics who are taking oral hypoglycemia agents along with the diet should exercise extreme caution if they decide to fast. They should reduce their dose to one-third, and take the drug not in the morning, but with Iftar in the evening. If they develop low blood sugar symptoms in the daytime, they should break [...]

Do not change your life

If you have the following qualities, do not change your life and be firm on them until your death, these qualities are: 1- If you are powerful and happy with your faith, secure and feel comfortable with the attentiveness of your heart. If you are satisfied with the sustenance of Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) to you, glad with your good deeds, and concerned with your mistakes and sins. 2- If your heart is filled with the desire to meet Allah (Glory be to Him) and see the great reward which He prepared for His Righteous Servants. If you move with [...]
